This ornamental grass cluster is planted in the middle of very small seating area, near the walking path where I often take an evening walk. A couple of benches line the circular retaining borders where this ornamental grass grows.
Unlike most grass, which grow in full sun, this type likes to grow in tree shade where it gets—at most— filtered light in the summer. The few trees planted around this grass keep it cool.
Riding a knee scooter during my ankle surgery recovery, I rested on one of the benches next to this ornamental grass.
It was only after the sunset and under the different shades of overhanging trees, that I noticed the very subtle but gorgeously delicate colors—a mix of light purple and pink depending on the age and size of each bush.
I managed to get off the scooter and lay down on my stomach to get the shots I had in mind. Even though I had a very fast lens, manual focus was required to sharply capture just few of those tiny stems and blur out the remaining clutter in the background.
The resulting image was worth the ordeal of getting off the wet muddy grass and back on the scooter with the knee-high cast. I see this picture to be viewed in a very large format on a wall so that it may be viewed by standing relatively far from it.
