This is actually part of Ornamental Grass cluster that was planted in the middle of very small seating area near the walking path I take often for my evening walks. It was in a tiny park sitting area with couple of benches around the circular retaining borders that these ornamental grass was planted in.
Unlike most grass that love sun regardless of ornamental or not, this type likes to grow under the tree shade where it gets at most filtered light under full summer sun. So, there were few trees planted around them to keep them cool so to speak.
I had an ankle surgery recently and with knee scooter, about 20 minutes of scootering was all I could handle which would land me on one of the benches next to them, at the tiny park by the walking path.
It was only after the sunset and under the different shades of overhanging trees, that I noticed their very subtle but gorgeously delicate colors, mix of light purple and pink depending on the age and size of each bush.
I had to manage to get off the scooter and lay down on my stomach to get the shots I had in mind. Even though I had a very fast premium lens, I still had to find and manually focus on just few of those tiny stems that were in focus and blur out the remaining clutter in the background.
It was an ordeal getting off the wet muddy grass and back on the scooter with the knee high cast, but I think it was worth the effort. I see this picture to be viewed in a very large format on a wall, and looked at standing relatively far from it. Only then, if you look long enough the symmetry will begin to emerge.
