Lanterns On Water

One late evening, I was returning home empty-handed with no photos worth while editing in the bag. As a last-ditch effort, I turned around to see if I had missed anything all day that was in front of me.

When I’m out on the field and just looking ahead for any shapes or shades to capture, I try to remember that sometimes it pays to look back, because what I’m looking for could be behind me.

And on that day, the low hanging cloud formations behind me caught my attention when I turned around. I thought they’re at least worth experimenting to find out if the shapes and colors of their reflections on calm waters of Belmont Slough would yield anything.

I took few manually focused shots with the 500mm lens to hopefully save the day. After editing few of them, I was able to bring out most of their hidden shades and shapes to qualify it for publishing, I thought.
